WORKS “Still waters run deep” Still waters run deep

Still waters run deep 150 × 150 cm acrylic, golden leaf on canvas 2023 Inspired by the Tipu’s Tiger sculpture collection from the Victoria and Albert Museum. Tipu’s Tiger was created for Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore in South India from 1782 to 1799. A tiger, an almost life-sized wooden semi-automatic, mauls a European soldier lying on his back. Hidden inside the tiger’s body, behind a flap, is an organ that can be controlled by turning the knob next to it. This simultaneously causes the man’s hand to rise and fall and produces sounds that mimic his death moans. In my work Still Waters Run Deep, the heroine seated on a tiger, who devours a lying man, exults and triumphs over aggression and masculinity. It is surrounded by sensitive elements and an additional blue male head, bringing emphasis to the whole marzipan-sweet composition.
