PROJECTS Water Drops on Burning Rocks 19.10 - 08.11, 2024, Mriya Gallery, New York, USA

Rukh Art Hub presents “Water Drops on Burning Rocks” – a new art show in NYC, featuring works by prominent Ukrainian and Spanish contemporary artists – Nina Murashkina and Xavier Escala. The exhibition will be on display from October 19th to November 8th 2024, at Mriya Gallery – an art space showcasing Ukrainian artists in the US. A water drop that falls upon a smelting stone, what is to be its fate – to parish swiftly, turn to haze, to yield, a vassal to the scorching boulder, or will it leave its mark, unseen, yet, ever so present? Will water dent the rock by falling, however gently, to make a cradle for a void that once will be from many other drops? What of the stone? Will it start to crack as it begins to feel the cold upon its burning crust? Questions of polar dualities and their ephemeral symmetry are at the heart of this exhibit. "Water Drops on Burning Rocks" is an artistic manifesto of multidimensional sensuality where candid and vivid canvases are balanced by the eloquent and tranquil silence of the sculpture, forging a space of an unrestrained experiment. The delicate harmony of contrasting artworks that are brought together, like water to a burning rock to form a mist of new, ethereal essence, creates a novel, multi-spectral creative realm brought to the world by two creative antipods Nina Murashkina and Xavier Escala. Nina Murashkina is an artist with a unique visual language full of enchanted feminism and feminity. Her canvases lure the viewer into a mysterious, vibrant, dangerous, and seductive world where the artist's alter-egos, bestowed with divine power, reign over men. Murashkina’s spellbound realm is a perfect blend of elegance and genuine naivety. Her art was showcased at exhibitions in the USA, the UK, France, Austria, Germany, Spain, and Ukraine, as well as in private collections. One of her pieces received an A-FAD Award for Best Design of the Year at the Barcelona Design Museum. Xavier Escala's artistic individuality lies in his ability to see, as if through a microscope that which he calls Coincidentia Oppositorum or coincidence of opposites. A winner of the National Sculpture Prize "Excelentísima Duquesa de Alba", Xavier creates a world of contrasts that are masterfully infused deep into stone and wood so that they reveal themselves to his audience. Escala has dedicated his life to art: he studied in the academies of Santa Isabel de Hungría and Carrara, and then with a sculptor Aron Demetz. Xavier extended his creative journey into his personal life when he fell in love and married a fellow artist – Nina Murashkina. The “Water Drops on Burning Rocks” art exhibition is an allusion to Rainer Werner Fassbinder's play of the same name that will take its viewers onto a romantic exploration of the inner passions of masculine and feminine antipodes. It will immerse the audience in a contrasting unity of opposites, and allow love and art to manifest.
