PROJECTS LYSISTRATA 18.09.2019 - 08.10.2021. Ukraine - Germany

This project is about a woman who was able to Stop the War with the help of a "sex strike". I truly believe in the power of women. Beauty, wisdom, charisma, talent. With this project, I explore how a woman can inspire, win, rejoice, and give others faith in herself.

The project takes its origins and inspiration from the comedy of the same title Lisystrata by the ancient Greek philosopher and comedian Aristophanes.

The comedy was created in the conditions of the deteriorating situation of Athens. The Peloponnesian War continued and Sparta acquired new powerful allies, including Persia. This time, in the comedy, the initiators of peacemaking are the Women and Girls of all Greece, who have suffered a lot from the difficulties of the War, are tired of separation and losses. Aristophanes addresses what unites all fighting men: their thirst for love and sex. This universal human need is under threat. Women from all over Greece united under the leadership of the Athenian Lysistrata and secluded themselves on the Acropolis. Locked up there, they renounce men's love until men end the war; in addition, women also control the State Treasury. All the men's attempts to change the position are useless! .. Lysistrata is a strong ironic woman, she was able to deny many other women the caresses of men for reconciliation in the country, she made a revolution. She is one of the first feminists. Such a strange strike of "crossed legs" prompts thoughts about what is happening now in Ukraine, about how many women are left without husbands, and how many are still waiting for them after the war? What will happen if you imagine a similar "crossed legs" strike in Ukraine? Will the war end? Cleonics: But if we believe and refrain (So, let it not be!), will we bring reconciliation closer at such a price? Lysistrata: Yes! I swear by the goddesses! When we sit, we will be perfumed, In short embroidered shirts, With an open neck, breast, with a shaved slit, Men will want to be caressed! And we will not give in to them, we will resist. Here, I know, they will immediately reconcile!

In this project I reflect on strength and weakness. About their origins. About role models of behavior in society. And also about infantile childhood. About girls in whom the spirit of struggle simmers, boils and is born. Struggle for your rights.
